Robert E. Lee, MBA, CCIM

Work Summary

 

After moving to California as a business process and outside sales consultant for a fortune 500 company (Lexmark International, A Spin off of IBM) in 1999, Lee pursued commercial real estate as an investment broker and advisor with Sperry Van Ness (SVN). While at SVN Lee gained valuable hands on experience while learning the dynamics of all four of the major real estate investment types (Apartments, Office, Industrial, and Retail). Lee partnered with a senior advisor and managed a team of other junior agents in their investment activities.  In 2007 Lee was recruited by Colliers International along  side a few other experienced professionals to  launch the Private Capital Advisors (PCA) Platform with  for the multi-housing product team. This was the first effort for Colliers Intl. CMN to create a private capital platform similar to CBRE’s private client group. Lee’s direct report acted as a founder of both platforms. After the credit crunch in the fall of 2007, Lee worked with Colliers and Cohen Financial to create a strategy and business plan to integrate the capital markets and investment sales team.

 

 In the spring of 2008 the integration effort was stalled due to the market and Lee decided to accept an opportunity as Vice President of Capital Markets for a Dallas based real estate  private equity firm. In his role as Vice President of Capital Markets Mr. Lee was in charge of raising private equity from individual accredited investors and wealth management firms to provide private equity to developers and sponsors all over the country.  The was soon found to be undercapitalized and conducted layoffs in late August of 2008, motivating Lee to form his owned consulting practice SIG Equity Partners, LLC (SIG).  

 

SIG  (Strategic Investment Group) is a fully diversified real estate  investment and consulting firm that is designed to assist high net worth investors and companies in the acquisition, disposition, syndication  and raising of private equity for commercial real estate opportunities with a focus in the multi-family arena. SIG has also been increasingly assisting lender and banks with the valuation, stabilization, and disposition of REO and Distressed commercial real estate projects across the country.

 

 Lee partners with a strategic advisory team that consists of CCIM’s, CRE’s, and other brokers and developers around the country to source, syndicate ,and finance multi-family and other product types that have a value-added component. Lee has obtained the CCIM (certified commercial investment member) designation and obtained an MBA from Pepperdine University’s prestigious Graziadio School of Business & Management in 2006 with an emphasis in entrepreneurism and finance. Lee also has developed and managed his own small portfolio of student housing units in the south eastern region.

Mr. Lee is a 2006-2007 graduate of NAIOP’s Young Professionals Group (YPG). In addition to his involvement in NAIOP, Mr. Lee is very active in the Certified Commercial Investment Members Institute (CCIM), and served as President for the Greater Southern California CCIM Chapter and was accepted to the Jay Levine Leadership Academy in 2009.  Lee is also currently serving as Chair of Pepperdine University’s Graziadio Alumni Network for the Los Angeles area, and plays and active role in his community serving on the board of Leadership Manhattan Beach which engages in civic and philanthropic activities. Lee is actively involved in the Southern California Commercial Real Estate Industry in many regards.

William Hugron

William Hugron has been in commercial real estate for over 30 years. 10 years in property management, 12 years in asset management, and the remainder in commercial brokerage. Stuart Hardy

Dr. Stuart Hardy has over 22 years of corporate consulting, business development and real estate experience. As a consultant, real estate economist and California licensed real estate broker, Dr. Hardy provides his expertise in land use, real estate development and project financing to private investors, developers and multinational corporations.


He serves in an advisory role as the Chief Strategy Officer for Seattle based Alekson Development Group LLC where he is responsible for identifying new markets and areas within those markets for the acquisition and development of mixed-use high-rise, hotel and supermarket properties.

      Steve Wiegmann has over 25 years of commercial real estate leasing and property management experience serving private investors and Fortune 500 companies. Steve is the past President of the Orange County Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management. During his tenure as president he started the annual IREM Real Estate Conference and Exposition, which is now one of the premier real estate conferences in Southern California. In 1998 served as Chairman of the conference and has served as the Program Chair for the IREM 2000, 2001 and 2002 Conference and Exposition, and has been an active participant both nationally, regionally and locally throughout his career.

Dino Champagne joined Asset Preservation, Inc. (API) in 2002 as Division Manager serving Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Her responsibilities include business development, client relations and providing educational seminars on all aspects of tax deferred exchanges. Prior to joining API she spent 14 years as a commercial broker handling sales and lease negotiations, and was a commercial lending officer for a major bank for 15 years. Ms. Champagne has facilitated over 600 accredited seminars on IRC Section 1031 tax deferred exchanges throughout Southern California to real estate professionals, CPAs, attorneys, escrow officers and investors. Her presentations are in-depth, practical and include many real-life scenarios to illustrate the potential strategies and pitfalls a practitioner or investor might encounter when dealing with this section of the tax code and other related code sections. Additionally, she has been a speaker at various associations and at the California Association of REALTORS and California Escrow Association annual statewide conventions.

Gene Trowbridge, JD, CCIM

Gene Trowbridge, JD, CCIM, has been in the commercial and investment real estate business since 1972. Through his own firm, Trowbridge Equity Group, Inc., he provides legal and real estate consulting services to individuals and corporations specializing in group sponsorship of commercial and investment real estate. He is a member of the California Bar and his law practice is limited to matters concerning such syndications. He has staged live workshops on group ownership, exchanges and taxation that have been presented across the country. His articles have been published in various real estate publications. He is a frequent speaker on the subject of real estate group ownership at local, state and national real estate conventions.

Trowbridge has hands-on experience in the syndication business, being the sponsor of 16 investment groups where he raised equity from investors through the NASD broker dealer community. He was also responsible for the organization of these investment groups, the acquisition, management and disposition of the real estate, and communication with investors.

Awarded the CCIM designation in 1977, Gene has served as a distinguished and popular member of the CCIM faculty since 1979. In 2002, he was presented with the Robert L. Ward Instructor of the Year Award from the CCIM Institute. He was the 2005 recipient of the Victor L. Lyon Distinguished Service Award of the CCIM Institute. He has served three times as the President of the Southern California CCIM Chapter. In 1991, Trowbridge was Chairperson of the Group Investment Committee of the National Association of Realtors. It's a Whole New Business, has become the definitive and essential text on creating and sponsoring real estate investment groups.
